With only 15 minutes allocated for public review and comment on the budget, the Shoreham Council has once again indicated their aversion to the public’s opinion and lack of transparency in their decision-making. It will take at least 15 minutes for the council to present the budget, leaving no time for public comment or discussion.
While the council can be assigned the entire blame for having an ill-informed public, the residents of Shoreham have also failed to show up in the past. The Council has not made it easy, as the meeting has not been publicized at all. As stated in a prior post, there is no notice of the budget portion of the meeting on the front page of the website, in violation of the Open Meetings Act.
If you are reading this post, you now know and can choose to let the council make decisions for you or show up and voice your opinion. It’s really up to the Shoreham residents.
